The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, stated on Wednesday that the government will remain firm in the fight until the country's streets are peaceful and free from crime and delinquency, referred to as urban terrorism.

During a War Room session at the Government Palace, Mrs. Boluarte indicated that this stage of meetings and coordination among the Executive Branch, the Peruvian National Police, and the Armed Forces was coming to a close.

"We are closing this stage of the War Room, but we will continue monitoring, alongside the ministers, our National Police, and the Armed Forces. We will remain firm in the fight until our streets have the peace that citizens deserve," she expressed.

Likewise, the Head of State said they will continue meeting with mayors and governors "to tackle this scourge on all fronts."

"During these 30 additional days of the extended state of emergency in Lima and Callao, let us continue refining the actions to hunt down this social scourge and, in joint work with the Public Ministry and the Judiciary, lock them (criminals) up for decades in prisons, because we cannot allow them to continue sowing terror," she declared.

The top official also urged working toward that goal in order to defeat urban terrorism.

The president reminded attendees that today marks 30 days since the state of emergency began in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region, during which the National Police carried out hundreds of operations and dismantled many criminal gangs.

"The fight continues until the criminals are sent to high-security prisons. These have also been weeks of coordination among different branches of the State, local and regional governments, which made it possible to strengthen efforts on various fronts against this urban terrorism," she added.
